Where Coffee Dreams Come True

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is coffee grown?

Brazil, Colombia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Oceania, South America, Central America, Sumatra Vietnam Indonesia Honduras Peru and India are some of the leading producers of coffee worldwide. Each coffee producing nation creates their own distinctive bean with unique flavour profiles; Brazil has been leading this industry for more than 150 years alone!

How is coffee decaffeinated?

Coffee beans are first submerged in hot water to extract their caffeine and flavorful components, before discarding the initial beans and filtering it through a carbon filter sized to capture only large caffeine molecules.

How should I store my coffee?

To keep your coffee tasting its best, airtight storage is key if you want it to stay as fresh and vibrant as possible. Otherwise it will oxidise and lose flavour over time.

Coffee thrives when stored in cool, dry, dark conditions; therefore it should be protected from direct sunlight as well as moisture or heat sources by being placed away in an appropriate cabinet or pantry.

Your coffee should be stored in an airtight canister that features one or more one-way valves to release excess oxygen and carbon dioxide that naturally occurs as the result of roasting coffee beans.

What is the best temperature for brewing coffee?

Temperature plays an integral role in shaping the taste and flavor of coffee, but finding an optimal temperature is often hard due to numerous variables: type, grind size and method of brewing among them.

Typically, the ideal water temperature range for coffee brewing should be between 91degC and 95degC (195degF and 205degF), as using freshly boiled water will produce bitter coffee that results in bitterness. Higher temperatures can draw more acidity into your cup so extraction/brew time needs to be shorter while lower temperatures may lead to under extracted coffee resulting in sour flavors so extraction/brew time might need to increase accordingly (such as with cold brew processes which involve steeping coffee in cold water for up to 24 hours until finally reaching perfection - typically this process results in coffee that has far less acidity).

How long will coffee last?

Coffee does not perish or spoil over time, but its freshness and flavour may diminish with age and storage methods. Degradation periods will depend on your brew's initial freshness and flavour levels when stored properly.

By properly storing roasted coffee as whole beans and grinding to your specifications as needed, you can expect the maximum enjoyment out of each cup up to three weeks post-roasting.

When purchasing coffee ground at the time of sale, expect to reap its full flavor for two to four weeks with proper storage conditions. Although still tasty after this amount of time has passed, its flavour won't be quite as vibrant.

Can I keep my coffee in the fridge or freezer?

Although coffee should be kept at a cool temperature, storing it in the fridge or freezer may do more harm than good.

Temperature fluctuations caused by taking coffee into and out of the fridge/freezer on an ongoing basis will cause condensation, which results in your coffee blooming slightly and losing flavor and vibrancy.

If you need to store large quantities of coffee, keeping it in the freezer will maintain freshness; however, smaller batches that can be removed easily from storage and kept out of the freezer should be preferred.
